Ladies European Tour (LET) players Emma Cabrera-Bello and Amy Boulden will join former tennis star Sandrine Testud in confirming their places at this year’s star-studded 2016 Costa Smeralda Invitational at Pevero Golf Club on 25 June.
Cabrera-Bello, sister of Ryder Cup hopeful Rafa, and Boulden – the 2014 LET Rookie of the Year – will be taking a break from their busy global schedules to meet up with Costa Smeralda Invitational host Darren Clarke and take on the stunning Sardinian course. They will be joined by 16 other stars from the world of sports and entertainment, including the likes of former footballers Alessandro Del Piero and Gianfranco Zola, last year’s winner and Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev, plus actors Dougray Scott and James Nesbitt.
Just one month before the Ricoh Women’s British Open at Woburn, both Cabrera-Bello and Boulden will be hoping the Costa Smeralda Invitational tests them on all aspects of their game, as one of the biggest fixtures on the ladies golfing calendar draws ever nearer.
Bolstering the female presence in Sardinia in just ten days’ time will be former French tennis player, Sandrine Testud, who will be looking to add a golfing trophy to the three professional tennis titles she claimed over an impressive 16-year career.
The highly-anticipated event, which will raise money for the Road to Awareness campaign in aid of UNICEF, will see all participants attending a golf clinic with Clarke and then taking on the Ryder Cup captain in a ‘Beat the Pro’ contest out on the course. A number of other fundraising activities will take place throughout the day, including a series of fun challenges and a glitzy Gala Dinner in the evening.
Last year’s event raised over £100,000 for the children’s charities Autism Rocks and Road to Awareness in aid of UNICEF. This year the Costa Smeralda Invitational is proud to support the Road to Awareness campaign in aid of UNICEF, with all money raised going towards UNICEF’s vital water, sanitation and hygiene programmes.
