Roberto Di Matteo, one of Italy’s most decorated footballers, is preparing himself for a different sporting challenge: the Costa Smeralda Invitational, an unforgettable weekend of five-star sport, entertainment, hospitality and charity fund-raising.
Roberto Di Matteo returns to CSI after enjoying the 2016 and 2015 editions and joins another Chelsea legend: defending CSI champion Gianfranco Zola. Di Matteo, 2012 UEFA Champions League winner with the Blues, will surely show his class and challenge the current tournament champ Gianfranco Zola.
With the stunning Sardinian backdrop and the prestigious Pevero Golf Club, few tournaments can rival the Costa Smeralda Invitational. This year’s editions will see all participants attending a golf clinic with the world’s greatest-ever female golfer Annika Sorenstam during the Celeb-Am golf tournament. Several other fundraising activities will take place throughout the day, including a series of fun challenges and a glitzy Gala Dinner in the evening held at the magnificent Hotel Cala di Volpe.
The evening will end with a charity auction to raise funds for the official Costa Smeralda Invitational charity, The Global Gift Foundation.
After playing for Lazio, Di Matteo moved to England where he made an impact for the Blues and won the UEFA Cup with Chelsea in 1998. The Italian international was also a successful manager and led Chelsea to an incredible double in 2012, winning both the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup.
